Expert Groups
Wind Sensor Calibration
This Expert Group serves as a technical forum for accredited laboratories to harmonize calibration methodologies and ensure accurate calibration of wind speed and direction sensors.
By aligning procedures, it guarantees consistent and comparable calibration results across laboratories worldwide.
Main areas of activity
- Harmonization of Procedures: Development of unified calibration protocols for cup, vane, and ultrasonic anemometers to minimize uncertainty.
- Standardization Leadership: Active interpretation and integration of the IEC 61400-50-1 standard into daily laboratory practice.
- Proficiency Testing: Verifying consistency and competence across laboratories.
- Technical Knowledge Exchange: Sharing expertise on wind tunnels, flow quality, and sensor performance.
Coordinator
Alina Roß
Coordinator of the Wind Sensor Calibration (formerly Anemometer Calibration) Expert Group since 2024. She became the first woman to lead one of these technical panels in Measnet.
Additional Managing Director (since 2025) and Deputy Head of the Calibration Laboratory (since 2021) of Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH..
After studying engineering physics with specialization in renewable energies at the University of Oldenburg, she started working for Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH in 2017.
Her professional focus covers wind tunnel experiments, with special emphasis on the reduction of measurement uncertainty, as well as international committee work and further development of standards.
